    A power failure at Television Centre caused outages for WestStar cable customers today (Wednesday, 16 May). WestStar's headend is located in the main plant at Television Centre which lost both it's main power and back-up power around 11:30 a.m. Engineers worked alongside Corporate Electric to get services back up as quickly as possible once power was restored. The outage also caused WestStar to lose internet and phone service for a short period this afternoon. All services were restored by around 1:30 p.m.

Police investigate diving death

A 47-year-old American tourist died this morning while diving off North West Point.

Police say about 9:30 a.m. the woman was diving at the Little Tunnel Dive site. “As she ascended she appeared to get into difficulty and, on surfacing, lost consciousness.”

“Staff from the dive company, Red Sail Sports, administered C.P.R. as they brought her to shore to meet with the emergency services,” a press release stated.

The woman was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town, where she was found to be dead on arrival.

Police enquiries into the death are ongoing.
