According to Government statistics there were 11,000 robberies with firearms in the entire state of Florida during 2010. http://www.fdle.state.fl.us/Content/getdoc/66defe5f-5791-4722-83d6-72ae469bfc70/1971_fwd_robbery_firearms.aspx However this was for a population of some 18 million. It comes out to 14 per 10,000 people for the entire year. The population of Grand Cayman is about 40,000. So the equivalent for Florida would be 56 armed robberies for the entire year. It just 6 weeks there have already been 10 armed robberies in Grand Cayman. Or, the equivalent of 80 for the entire year. So, based on the first 6 weeks, we have almost double the number of armed robberies, per head of population in "peaceful, crime free' Cayman as in crime-ridden Florida. And guns are LEGAL to buy in Florida.
