Customs officer arrested

Customs officials confirm one of their officers has been arrested in relation to a number of importation offences.

Cayman 27 understands he’s suspected of soliciting a bribe, conniving the importation of goods other than due Customs process and evading duty. These suspicions are contrary to the Customs Law under which he was arrested. The officer has been suspended while the case continues.

Officials say this brings the number of customs officers arrested of importation offences in the past 2 years to four.
