Double gold for local rum

A local rum distillery is sporting a new award.  Cayman Spirits Company (CSC) announced its rum, Seven Fathoms has won a Double Gold medal.

It happened on Tuesday, 8 April at the 71st Annual Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America Convention in Las Vegas, NV.  Seven Fathoms was one of 289 spirits entered and one of 37 rums in its category.

As an underdog the award continues to build credibility for the company and the Cayman Islands.  ”We’re always the first entry ever from the Cayman Islands and of course people look at us and say, ‘You’re making rum in the Cayman Islands?’ Yes, we are and of course to enter is an accomplishment but to actually come back and win a Double Gold Medal is a point of pride for us, to be able to go there and represent the Cayman Islands well” says Walker Romanica, co-owner of CSC.

This is the sixth award for the company. Seven Fathoms has also won awards in Chicago, New Orleans and right here in Cayman.
