Since 1992, Cayman 27 has been providing the Cayman Islands community with news, sports, and entertainment. Our mission is to connect the Cayman Islands with the rest of the world by providing a wide range of programming on our free over-the-air network.
For about two decades, Cayman 27 has been dedicated to delivering reliable, timely and unbiased news. The news team, which is responsible for producing Daybreak, Cayman 27 News, 27 Tonight and a variety of local talk shows is headed up by News Director, Ben Meade.
Cayman 27 News at 6 p.m. is a 30 minute broadcast focusing on local news, weather and sports.
27 Tonight at 6:30 p.m. follows Cayman 27 News. It includes an in depth look at the “Big Story” of the day, viewer feedback, and a human interest story. 27 Tonight also has regional and world news. It usually ends with a video shot of the day.
Daybreak is a hour and a half morning news and entertainment show hits the air at 6:30 a.m. to bring residents of Cayman up to speed on local, regional and international happenings. During the first half hour, the Daybreak team focuses on what you need to know before you head out the door from local headlines to the day’s weather forecast. From 7 a.m. Daybreak digs deeper into what’s happening in the community with interviews that explore not just what is happening but why and how it affects us. The team also brings a light-hearted approach to lifestyle and entertainment news engaging viewers with regular features and timely interviews.
Cayman 27’s live truck allows our team to report major news when and where it happens, such as elections, while our production capabilities enable us to produce live community events such as the Young Caymanian Leadership Awards.
Cayman 27 News airs 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Daybreak is weekdays at 6 a.m. all on Cayman 27 – WestStar channel 27, and in HD on WestStar channel 327.
Local talk shows – focusing on social issues, politics, sports, youth issues, arts and entertainment – air Mondays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. For additional programming information check our programming guide.
