New breast cancer screening recommendations out of the United States are causing concern in Cayman.

The United States Preventative Service Task Force set new guidelines, calling for fewer breast screenings and no self examinations. These recommendations have been causing debate around the world, with local doctors also weighing in.

There is no data as to how many people in Cayman have been diagnosed with cancer, but the Cancer Society is hoping to start a cancer registry by the New Year to track those numbers.
