The RCIPS will have an Anti-corruption Unit as early as January, 2010.
Police Commissioner David Baines made the announcement this week when he went before the Public Accounts Committee to answer questions about Operations Tempura and Cealt.
Mr. Baines told the committee the London Metropolitan Police will hand the investigations over to the RCIPS within the next four to six months.
The Anti-corruption Unit will be staffed by overseas officers with specific experience to conduct internal investigations moving forward.
