Key Witness Refuse to Testify in Sabrina’s Murder Case

(Grand Cayman - CITN) -

A key witness for the Crown Counsel's case against Randy Martin refuses to testify out of fear for her life. It's week four of the trial of Randy Martin, the man accused of killing 21-year-old Sabrina Schirn in March.

As the Crown gets ready to wrap up its case, one important witness clams up, bringing the trial to a stalemate. So far, the Crown has shown what it believes is opportunity for Randy Martin to kill Sabrina, but no motive has been given as yet.

The Crown is putting considerable weight on the evidence of the reluctant witness. As the witness is refusing to speak, Crown Counsel Cheryl Richards is fighting to have a police statement the woman made in April submitted as evidence.

The Defence lawyers for Randy Martin disagree, saying if the woman will not testify and give them the opportunity to cross examine, then her statement is irrelevant in the case.
