Fire destroys three shops

Three local businesses have been destroyed by fire in an early morning blaze in George Town.
Around 6 this morning (12 January) a fire broke out at the Cayman One Building, next to the Burger King on the waterfront.
Traffic was diverted while fire crews worked to extinguish the flames. Fire officials and the property owners tell News 27 there was extensive damage to the building structure. The whole first floor of the building was destroyed.
Luckily the upper floor only received smoke damage. The owner of clothing store Cayman Jam tells says the contents in the building were not insured and she is devastated by the losses.
Fire and police officers are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
