Suspected dengue fever samples now with CDC
Posted Thu, Feb 4th 2010, 18:09(Grand Cayman - CITN) -
Test results to determine if three Grand Cayman residents have dengue fever have been delayed.
The samples were initially sent to the Caribbean Epidemiology Centre (CAREC) in Trinidad for testing, but they then sent the samples to the Centres for Disease Control (CDC) branch in Puerto Rico since that lab has newer testing technology.
The three residents who are believed to have dengue fever are no longer in the hospital and doctors say they are no longer infectious.
So far there have been no further reports of similar cases here in Cayman.
