Government has confirmed the much talked about tax review has been completed.

It was handed to government this week, and right now much of what's in the report is not being revealed.  Government commissioned the report last September as a way to look at potential revenue sources.

The measure was a condition of the UK’s approval for borrowing over $270 million to balance last year's budget.

Now that the report is in hand, Premier the Honuorable McKeeva Bush will go to the UK next week to discuss the findings with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

The review was conducted by James Miller, a former aid to US President Reagan.  He is considered a conservative economist who frequently voices his opposition to tax increases.

Opposition wants to help government

Leader of the Opposition, the Honourable Kurt Tibbetts is also speaking out about the Miller Report.  In a letter addressed to the Premier, he says he and his colleagues are very concerned about what steps the government is taking to address the budget.

They are hoping to meet with the Premier at his earliest convenience to discuss the issues before he travels to England to meet with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).

Mr. Tibbetts says he believes to improve the chances of success in any negotiations with the FCO and the Cayman Islands Delegation should include representation from both the Opposition and the Independent Member.
