Tourism Department defends cruise ship stats
Posted Thu, Mar 11th 2010, 19:09(Grand Cayman - CITN) -
The Department of Tourism (DOT) is defending the way it counts cruise ship arrivals, after criticism from Cayman Islands Tourism Association (CITA).
DOT has confirmed its cruise arrival figures are based on ship head count and not how many passengers actually come ashore. CITA claims revenue from cruise visits is being overstated because of inflated arrival numbers.
