Competitive swim season begins

Some 137 swimmers dove into the Lions Pool on 15 October, for the official start of the competitive swim season.

Some were swimming competitively for the first time, while many older swimmers were vying for qualifying times that would allow them to compete in an upcoming meet in Toronto.

Unfortunately rain washed out parts of the event, meaning those swimmers will have to wait until Saturday to try again for official qualifying times.
Stingray Swim Club’s, Brenda McGrath, says it’s a good chance for young swimmers to get their stroke back, especially those hoping to compete internationally.

Saturday’s meet is the Spooky Splash Swim Meet. It’s slated to start at 7:30 a.m. at the Camana Bay pool.
