With more than 50 hotels dotted around America, the Kimpton group is coming to Cayman, planning to move into a new hotel built at the site of the old Courtyard Marriott on Seven Mile Beach.
As Cayman 27′s Paul Kennedy finds out, the hotel has a reputation for attracting one particular type of traveler.
John Tanzella of the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association said: “I think it’s exciting. I mean, i think i’m hopeful by now attitudes have changed a little bit where there won’t be such an outcry if a gay couple where staying on the island but i guess that remains to be seen.”
We contacted Dart Realty, who said their selection criteria included Kimpton’s presence in all of Cayman’s major gateways, its reputation as a top brand for families and children. Kimpton’s leadership in non-discrimination is emulated by all other major hotel brands.
They added: “Kimpton is ranked 1st in customer satisfaction in the Market Metrix Hospitality index. Kimpton’s kid-friendly atmosphere is recognised by parents magazine which named it a top brand for families. Fortune magazine has ranked Kimpton a “Best Company to Work For” 4 times including in 2013.”
