Price for turtle meat drops

The World Society for the Protection of Animals says a reduction in the price of turtle meat will just increase the demand for the dish. The Cayman Turtle Farm dropped the price of meat at their West Bay facility.

“Ultimately, simply dropping the price of sea turtle meat and effectively stimulating demand is not the answer,” Dr. Neil D’Cruze of WSPA said.

Turtle Farm managing director, Tim Adam, says the price cuts are a result of several factors including increased egg and hatchling productions.

Gina-Ebanks Petrie of the Department of Environment welcomes the cost reduction.
